Harvey Katowitz helped establish our NYPD 10-13 Club in March 2007 as one of our Founding Six. A retired NYPD captain with 27 years of service, he connected with local retirees after a chance call while volunteering with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
For 19 years, Harvey served as our president, helping us look after one another and remember those we have lost. He stepped down at the end of 2025, and Frank Irizarry became our president in January 2026. Our President Emeritus, Harvey also serves on our board as Immediate Past President and Newsletter Editor, keeping us informed and connected.
Retired NYPD Captain Harvey Katowitz served 27 years with the department and helped found our NYPD 10-13 Club in March 2007. He led us for 19 years before Frank Irizarry became our president in January 2026. Our President Emeritus, Harvey also serves on our board as Immediate Past President and Newsletter Editor, preserving the connection he and five fellow founders began with 35 members here in Charlotte.
